Miami Dolphins inactives for Week 2 versus Bills

The Miami Dolphins are nearly set for kickoff in Week 2 of the 2021 NFL regular season, bringing a golden opportunity to Miami Gardens for the Dolphins to announce themselves as legitimate contenders in the AFC East for the season ahead. And while we found out on Friday courtesy of head coach Brian Flores that the Dolphins will be without free agent wide receiver Will Fuller for this game due to personal reasons, we’ve now found out what the rest of the the Dolphins’ inactive list looks like for Miami in Week 2.

There aren’t nearly as many surprises after Fuller.

The inactive list offers a number of young talents for Miami — including 2021 rookies Trill Williams (an undrafted free agent) and Hunter Long. Long made his NFL debut in Week 1 against New England and played well, but the Dolphins are welcoming back TE Adam Shaheen from a stint on the reserve/COVID-19 list and therefore Long gets the chance to soak in Miami’s home debut without getting the chance to play.

2020 1st-round pick Noah Igbinoghene is an inactive for the second straight week; further solidifying him as a developmental player who feels unlikely to take the significant snaps the team was likely hoping they’d see him get this season. And, if in doubt, not playing him against the Bills isn’t a bad idea in itself — Bills QB Josh Allen found Igbinoghene in coverage often in Week 2 of last season after CB Byron Jones went down with injury.

The only other two inactives are new additions. Elijah Campbell was added to the roster after the initial roster cuts back at the start of the season and Greg Little was acquired via trade just a few weeks ago. With 2021 rookie Liam Eichenberg proving in Week 1 he is more than capable of filling in on the left side, Miami is opting to not dress their most newly acquired tackle.
