Miami Dolphins cut WR Isaiah Ford

The Miami Dolphins may be called many things by fans of other teams — but one thing no one can ever call this team is ‘complacent’. It’d be pretty easy to stand pat and just let the rest of this season trickle by, week by week, hoping for a merciful end. But that’s not the Dolphins’ process — they’re engrossed in player evaluation of the 53 men they have on their roster. And by adding more players to that evaluation pool. It’s why they’ve added TE Clive Walford and CBs Xavier Crawford this week.

But the opposite side of so many players being looked at is the Dolphins must make the decision to cut players loose in order to bring new players into the picture. The latest Dolphin on the chopping block is wide receiver Isaiah Ford.

Ford has been a part of the Dolphins organization since being a 7th-round pick by the team in 2017. His career production isn’t anything inspirational, as he’s logged just 2 receptions for 9 yards through his time with the Dolphins — playing in only four games as an active member of the team. He’s largely been a staple of Miami’s practice squad over the last two and a half seasons, affording him the opportunity to fully learn the playbook and develop as a player without having to take up an active roster spot.

Whether or not more time on the practice squad is in Ford’s future in Miami is unclear — but we do know that the Dolphins have seen enough to know they’d prefer to continue to churn the bottom of the roster at Ford’s expense.
