Miami Dolphins cut defensive end Tank Carradine

Every year there seems to be a player for the Miami Dolphins who just can’t quite seem to stick on the 53-man roster — but won’t go quietly, either. Offensive lineman Sam Young was one during the Adam Gase era. Remember lineman Ray Feinga? He was seemingly cut and then subsequently signed each week throughout his years with the Dolphins!

This year’s version appears to be defensive end Tank Carradine. The Dolphins announced they’ve cut Carradine from the roster yesterday — a move that is likely a byproduct of a promising first start from former Dallas Cowboy Taco Charlton. The Dolphins were awarded Charlton on the waiver wire last Thursday and just days later Charlton logged a sack, a TFL and several other positive plays in nearly 50% of Miami’s defensive snaps.

Carradine, conversely, did not dress for Miami’s Week 3 contest against Dallas. It’s a frustrating turn of events for Carradine, who was arguably the team’s best defensive end behind Charles Harris in the preseason — but initially did not make the 53-man roster on cuts, only to be resigned in the following weeks.

Carradine, a Florida State product, is likely running out of strikes in the NFL. Many opportunities to play are bred from the Dolphins’ 2019 rebuild — but any player who can’t consistently find playing time on this team as a player who has underwhelmed in his pro career is likely going to face difficulty finding chances in the future.
