Miami Dolphins assigned CBS lead commentary team for Week 1

It is beginning to feel a bit like football season. Perhaps it has something to do with this past Saturday’s college football showdown, the cool breeze in the evenings or the headlines of roster cuts. But make no mistake — the sensation of football is in the air. And, as such, we can begin to turn our eyes to what the future holds for the Miami Dolphins in just 11 days time when the team heads north to face off against the New England Patriots to open the season.

We can presume safety that the Patriots will look like a drastically different team than the one that Miami beat in Week 17 — the team no longer has QB Tom Brady and a slew of the defenders who tried to put the screws on the Dolphins in December. Another certainty of this contest is that viewers are going to be blessed with a terrific breakdown of all of that action: the lead CBS Sports broadcast team has been assigned to call the game.

Former NFL quarterback Tony Romo is a rising star in commentary thanks to his wealth of experience at the most complex position in sports. Romo regularly breaks down the nuances of plays before they happen, giving casual fans a behind the curtain peak at what is happening on the gridiron before and during each and every play. His natural feel for commentating the game will be a treat for Dolphins fans to listen to as Miami gets back to business and looks to start off the 2020 season in the same way they ended their 2019 campaign: with a win in Foxborough.
