Mia Farrow's son Thaddeus died from self-inflicted gun shot wound, autopsy finds

Mia Farrow’s son died after shooting himself in the torso, not in a serious car accident as previously believed.

Thaddeus Wilk Farrow was discovered inside of his vehicle on Wednesday in Danbury in Connecticut suffering from a life-threatening injury. The 27-year-old, who was paraplegic due to polio, was one of 10 children adopted by Farrow, 71.

Thaddeus was adopted from an orphanage in Calcutta and had trained to become a police officer.

He was discovered in a vehicle miles from his mother’s home and pronounced dead at a hospital, according to the Associated Press.

Farrow, an actress and latterly a human rights activist, said the family is “devastated” by his passing.

“He was a wonderful, courageous person who overcame so much hardship in his short life,” she wrote on Twitter. “We miss him. Thank you for the outpouring of condolences and words of kindness.”

Farrow survived polio as a child herself and addressed a United Nations global summit on eradicating the disease with her son in 2000. She told delegates: "If people could follow Thaddeus through just one day of his life and see just how hard it is for him, I think there would be no abstainees in saying 'let there be no more polio.”
