Security chiefs at MI5 have opened top-secret files to reveal letters from budding child spies wanting to sign up.
One told them: “I am writing to tell you I’d like to be a spy. I am a child so no one would suspect.
“I am 10 actually.
"I know how to speak a little of German, Spanish and Chinese.
"And English, of course.”
A selection of the kids’ applications can be seen on MI5’s Instagram page – anonymously, of course.

They echo Anthony Horowitz’s fictional spook Alex Rider, recruited at 14 by MI6, where 007 also worked.
A 10-year-old writes: “I understand you are an amazing organisation that protects us from terrorists.
"I may be small and young but I can fit into really tiny places and run fast.”
An eight-year-old said they were a whizz at “computer coding and standing guard”.
Another youngster sent in a drawing of a rocket.
MI5 said that it wanted to give a glimpse of the letters that “brought a smile to their faces”.
But some youngsters might be enlisted sooner than expected.
The service is now taking on teenage apprentice spies straight from school and wants to draw on candidates from all backgrounds.
MI5 said: “University isn’t for everyone. We need people fresh out of school, eager to get started and want to do something interesting and exciting.”
