MI5 is looking for intelligence officers - no experience needed and there's a £30k starting salary

If you have ever fancied dabbling in a bit of espionage now could be your chance.

MI5 is recruiting intelligence officers, and there's a whole array of enticing benefits that come with the role.

The successful candidate will be on a starting salary of £30k, and get to work in its iconic headquarters in Thames Bank Central London, Wales Online reports.

According to their job advert: "Safeguarding the UK against threats to national security requires intelligent, talented people and those people aren’t found in any one particular section of society.

"People from a range of backgrounds and degree disciplines join the Intelligence Officer Development Programme."

While future Intelligence Officers can come from any line of work, applicants will be expected to have a 2:2 or above in any degree discipline, or have relevant work experience.

They should also have a good eye for detail, trust their own judgement and be highly organised and capable of solving problems and making decisions.

What is expected from the role

"As a trained Intelligence Officer, your first role could be countering threats from international or Northern Ireland related terrorism to espionage or hostile states," the advert says.

"You’ll set investigative strategies, making recommendations based on your assessment of threat levels, collaborating with colleagues and the Police to thwart threats."

But before being deployed in a role, Intelligence Officers will be put on a two-year development programme, where they'll develop the skills necessary to work for MI5.

During this time, new recruits will be paid £31,807 per year, whiling learning about policy, warranty, legal casework and data analysis.

After this, successful candidates will advance to earn £34,385 per year.

Those interested in applying can do so here.

The window for applications closes on November 4.

Prospective candidates will be contacted for telephone interviews in early November and attend assessment centres beginning in early December.
