For those that may not be aware, MI5 is the British national security service and are responsible for securing the country's security.

Similarly, GCHQ works towards keeping "Britain safe" by operating with technology and intelligence to counter security threats such as cyber crime and terrorism.

Senior Data Engineer - MI5

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £62,560 - £67,294 (37 hours per week)

Engineering is a key part of MI5's operations that support all apects of the business. You will be required to use agile methodology to deliver products that are core to MI5's operations.

You will also be working to the full spectrum of investigative, analytical and corporate areas of the organisation.

This could involve building a platform to enable the analysis of data, systems to track the progress of investigations, compliance services to ensure legal operations or tooling to improve developer experiences.

MI5 is looking for Lead Data Engineers who have experience of working with a broad range of technologies, leading engineering teams and taking responsibility for making technical decisions.

You must have excellent communication skills, a deep understanding of data engineering, work with big data languages, among other key skills.

Mandarin Language Talent Programme - MI5 and GCHQ

Contract: Internship

Salary: Ranges for the 11-week internship is £5,128 - £5,324 (depending on location)

GCHQ and MI5 employ highly skilled Language Analysts in a variety of exciting and rewarding roles.

The Language Talent Programme is an 11-week paid scheme for language students at GCHQs offices in Cheltenham and Manchester or MI5 headquarters in London.

Regardless of agency or location, you’ll be a fully supported member of the team, using your language skills to contribute directly to the organisation's work and make a real difference.

Successful applicants will have a deep understanding of Mandarin language skills as well as cultural knowledge which will be central to the work you do during the placement.

Requirements for the job include being an undergraduate in your final year of studying Mandarin and be on course to develop high-level language skills.

Otherwise, you will have graduated within the last 2 years with a 2:2 and above as well as an interest in using your language in your career and be keen to develop your skills.

Internal Communication and Engagement Manager - GCHQ

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £35,450 plus Concessionary Payment of £2,189

The Communications and Engagement Team (CET) sits at the heart of GCHQ, educating external and internal audiences on the organisation's mission to keep the UK safe and demonstrating the impact they make every single day.

The successful candidate will be a trusted strategic comms advisor and will use a range of creative communications and engagement methods to connect the organisation's engaged and enquiring people.

This is a varied role where you will work closely across the internal comms team, wider comms colleagues and with other agency partners

Minimum for requirements for the role include a minimum of 3 years’ experience in corporate communications, the experience of delivering creative, strategic internal campaigns and experience of end-to-end communications planning and delivery, including using insight and evaluation to drive and achieve successful outcomes

Senior Internal Communications and Engagement Manager - GCHQ

Contract Type: Permanent

Salary: £43,957 plus Concessionary Payment of £2,428

The successful candidate will be a trusted strategic comms advisor to the organisation's leadership and will use a range of creative communications and engagement methods.

You must also own a dynamic portfolio, working closely across the internal comms team, with wider comms colleagues and other agency partners.

You should also be comfortable working in a busy and changing environment.

Minimum requirements for the role include a minimum 5 years’ experience in corporate communications, experience of leading creative, strategic internal campaigns as well as xperience of end-to-end communications planning and delivery, including using insight and evaluation to drive and achieve successful outcomes

Entry-level Developer, Senior Software Engineer and Lead Software Engineer - GCHQ

Contract Type: Permanent (Flexible hours)

Salary: Total Package from £30,831 - £69,710 dependent on skills, experience, and job role (package includes basic salary, concessionary payment, skills payment, and a potential offer of an additional one-off recruitment bonus)

This role demands you be passionate about developing software, having a curiosity for new technology and new ways to solve problems.

There will be a lot of freedom in this role as you work closely with colleagues, and the organisation trusts you to decide the best way to get things done; whether something requires high quality or a quick turnaround; how best to organise yourselves as part of a group and how best to meet the needs of the mission.

Whilst the languages we use most at the moment are Javascript, C++, Java and Python. It is far more important that you are able to learn new languages and libraries and keep yourself up to date.
