MHA Moore and Smalley grows with new Manchester office and three senior hires

An accountancy and business advisory firm with offices across the north west has opened a new office in Manchester city centre.

MHA Moore and Smalley, which has offices in Preston, Liverpool, Blackpool, East Midlands, Kendal, Kirkby Lonsdale, Lancaster and Southport, has opened its new office at 80 Mosley Street, near St Peter’s Square.

Graham Gordon, managing partner of MHA Moore and Smalley, said the firm has been “testing the market” in Manchester for “some time”.

“We felt this was the right time to take on our own Manchester address and we’re thrilled to have brought in three incredibly experienced professionals...to lead our Manchester team.

“The growth potential for us lies in our specialist services that can help business owners plan for the future. This includes business growth consultancy, corporate finance advice, cross-border tax and VAT advice, and our established digital accounting offer.”

The firm, which has 24 partners and employs more than 300 members of staff, reported a record turnover of £17.77m in June.

New partners Andrew Feeke and Colin Abrahams and new corporate finance director Simon Carruthers will lead the new office with support from by PA Helen Bowker.

All three new recruits have joined from Baldwins’, formerly CLB, Manchester office.

Mr Abrahams, former tax partner at Baldwins, has more than 30 years’ tax experience at CLB Coopers, Baker Tilly and Price Waterhouse, while Mr Carutthers had been at Baldwins and CLB Coopers since 2014.

Mr Feeke, who was previously Baldwins’ managing partner in Manchester, said: “We’re thrilled to be joining the firm at this point in their growth cycle and proud to have been entrusted with helping build a full-service team in Manchester focussing on advising entrepreneurial businesses across the North West.”
