MH370 debris video: Investigators discover Boeing 777 wing in Reunion

Video from the island of Reunion shows aircraft debris that investigators have a "high degree of confidence" could be from the same model Boeing as the Malaysian Airlines plane that disappeared on March 8, 2014.

US officials have said that air safety investigators have identified the component as from the trailing edge of a 777 wing, with Australia's deputy prime minister stating that a number stamped onto the piece of debris could help identify whether it came from the MH370 plane that has been missing for 16 months.

The Malaysian aircraft disappeared last March carrying 239 passengers and crew from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing. The piece of debris discovered recently was found on Reunion, a French island just east of Madagascar.

Watch video from La Reunion showing the washed-up debris:

The last contact with MH370 had the aircraft travelling over the Andaman Sea, 230 miles northwest of Penang, Malaysia. Reunion is 3,500 miles southwest of the Malaysian city and 2,600 miles west of the current area being searched for the missing plane.
