Mexican chain Tortilla says significant growth is thanks to delivery apps

  • Mexican food chain Tortilla has reported strong sales, with a nearly 14 per cent increase in the six months to the end of June compared to the previous year.
  • The company attributes this growth significantly to its expansion onto takeaway platforms such as Deliveroo, Uber Eats, and Just Eat, which saw delivery sales jump by over 50 per cent.
  • Improvements to the menu and the introduction of self-ordering kiosks in 38 UK restaurants also contributed to higher average customer spending.
  • Tortilla recently published its delayed annual results for 2025, which were held up due to accounting issues that led to an overstatement of profits related to its French business.
  • Despite the UK operations being profitable, the newly released accounts showed adjusted earnings of £1.1 million for 2025, with the French business operating at a loss, and shares were down approximately 5 per cent following the update.
