Mexican authorities have arrested "Ajenjo," a top operative in Mexico City working for the Nuevo Imperio cartel. Officials said that Armando "N" is accused of being involved in crimes such as kidnapping, murder and the selling of drugs.

"Following a joint investigation conducted by the Security Secretariat, the Mexico State Prosecutor's Office and the Secretariat of Citizen Safety, authorities carried out in Queretaro an arrest warrant against a man identified as a priority target," said Mexico City's Secretary of Citizen Security, Pablo Vazquez.

The officials went on to say that "Ajenjo" was the "leader of a criminal group operating west of Mexico City, especially in Azcapotzalco and some municipalities in Mexico State," the official added.

Mexican Security Secretary Omar Garcia Harfuch also highlighted the development, saying the arrest is "key to reduce crime and provide more safety to the population of the Mexico Valley."

Infobae Mexico detailed that the Nuevo Imperio cartel is among the most powerful in the region since 2020. However, since 2024 dozens of operatives have been arrested since, weakening the criminal organization. Among them were those of Nestor "N" and "Rafaca," the outlet added.
