Nov. 03--The Kansas City Royal's World Series win over the New York Mets gave the fall classic a 6% ratings boost over last year.
Fox averaged 14.7 million viewers over the five games, compared with 13.8 million for last season's seven-game contest in which the San Francisco Giants topped the Royals.
The five-game average was the best since 2009, when the other team in the country's No. 1 market -- the New York Yankees -- won the series against the Philadelphia Phillies.

Fox was also gratified that Nielsen reported more younger viewers were watching compared with the first five games of the 2014 series. Viewing among male teens was up 19%. Among men in the 18-to-34 age group, the increase was 12%.
The overall average was helped by strong ratings for Game 5 on Sunday night, which had an audience of 17.2 million. The game was the most-watched Game 5 since the Yankees-Marlins series in 2003.
In the Royals home market of Kansas City, which has not seen its team win a title since 1985, 60% of all TV homes were tuned into the game.
