Mets reliever Tommy Hunter made his first appearance at the MLB level way back in 2008 with the Rangers. Since then he has played for seven different teams and has appeared in 476 games.
And on Tuesday night he finally did something he’s dreamed of doing his whole life/career – he got his first hit in the majors.
Hunter’s reaction on first base after slapping a single to right field on the first pitch he saw in the third inning was tremendous. He did a little hip dance thing on the bag as his teammates cheered him on. He was like a little kid out there, taking it all in.
Then after the game he was like a little kid again as he explained just how special this moment was for him.

I jumped on first like a little-leaguer. It was crazy. That’s the coolest thing I’ve done in the big leagues – I mean, I got a knock in the show!
I’m telling you, man, it’s the coolest thing I’ve ever done. My wife sent me a video of my son watching it. It’s definitely a highlight for me. It’s the coolest thing. It’s awesome.
