Mets pitcher Bartolo Colon sued for child support in secret-family case

May 18--New York Mets pitcher Bartolo Colon is being sued for child support by a woman who claims to be raising their two children, according to a report by the New York Post.

Colon, 42, has four sons with his wife of 21 years, Rosanna Colon. But Alexandra Santos, 38, said in a suit filed last year that the three-time all-star is also father to her 7-year-old daughter and 8-year-old son.

"Mr. Colon obviously is a very talented baseball player and he earns a significant income, and we believe that his children should share in the lifestyle they would have enjoyed had their parents remained together," Santos' attorney, Evan Schein, told the Post.

Colon appeared in a Manhattan courtroom Monday. The case is listed as "Anonymous vs. Anonymous," but because Colon at one point attempted to represent himself, his name is listed as an attorney.

Colon's attorney did not respond to interview requests from the Post.

But the newspaper did reach Rosanna Colon, who acknowledged her husband had fathered two children other than their own but declined to comment any further.

"I can't talk about that," Rosanna said in Spanish. "This is personal and not something I want to talk about."

Colon is scheduled to start Wednesday against the Washington Nationals in New York.
