Mets-Nationals game postponed due to weather, will be played as part of Saturday doubleheader

With a loss Friday, the Mets would have been eliminated from postseason contention.

Now, that is completely out of their hands for the night.

Due to inclement weather, Friday's Mets-Nationals game was postponed. It will be made up as part of a doubleheader on Saturday at Nationals Park.

Game 1, the postponed contest, will begin at 3:05 p.m. The second game will start about 30 to 45 minutes after the conclusion of the first.

The Mets won't be playing on Friday, but the results around the league still affect them.

If two of the following three happen, the Mets are eliminated:

1. The Phillies defeat the Rays

2. The Marlins defeat the Yankees

3. The Giants sweep a doubleheader with the Padres

The Mets need to wait and see what happens. They could be playing meaningless games by the time they hit the field on Saturday.
