The Mets announced on Thursday afternoon that starting pitcher Matt Harvey and second baseman Neil Walker will miss several weeks with injuries.
Harvey was examined at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York and was diagnosed with a stress injury to the scapula bone in the right shoulder. Harvey received a PRP injection and will rehab until he is pain free, at which time he will begin a throwing program to return to pitch.
Harvey lasted just four innings and gave up four earned runs in Wednesday night's game against the Cubs. The Mets won the game, 9-4.
Walker was also examined at the Hospital for Special Surgery and underwent an MRI, which showed a partial tear of his left hamstring. He received a PRP injection and will begin rehab immediately. Walker was hurt in Wednesday night's game after pulling up lame trying to run out a bunt.
Walker was placed on the 10-day disabled list and will be replaced by Gavin Cecchini, who has been recalled from Triple-A Las Vegas.
