Mets' Duda sidelined for 30 days, season in jeopardy

NEW YORK _ Lucas Duda's season could be over

The Mets first baseman's back has flared up and he has been shut down for 30 days. Duda has been on the disabled list since May with a lower back stress fracture.

Duda recently started working toward a return, but then his back flared up. He visited back specialist Dr. Robert Watkins, who told him to cease activities for 30 days. That time off threatens Duda's season since it appears he could only return in late September at the earliest. He last played in May 20 against the Brewers.

"It doesn't look good," Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said of Duda returning.
