NEW YORK _ Don't plan on seeing Tim Tebow at Citi Field this year.
Mets general manager Sandy Alderson said Friday he does not expect to promote the ex-NFL quarterback to the 40-man roster when rosters expand in September.
"I don't foresee that kind of scenario, no," Alderson said.
There has been speculation about whether the Mets would promote Tebow since he will surely attract large crowds, but the outfielder is only in Class A.
The team recently promoted him despite poor numbers with Class A Columbia, and Tebow was hitting .327 with a .972 OPS with Class A St. Lucie entering Friday.
Tebow hit a walk-off homer Thursday.
When the team promoted Tebow, Alderson noted his exit velocity and chase rates, and mentioned Tebow's peripheral stats again Friday.
"By the way, his exit velocities continue to be very good," Alderson said.
