Metrolink services to Manchester Airport disrupted after a crash on the tracks in Chorlton

Metrolink services on the Manchester Airport line have been disrupted this morning following a car crash.

Services have stopped between St Werburgh's Road and Northern Moor following the collision, which happened at around 9.45am on Tuesday (February 18).

The crash between two hatchback vehicles, happened on Nell Lane at the junction with Mauldeth Road West in Chorlton.

Police said no-one was hurt in the collision which blocked the tram tracks.

Metrolink tweeted to confirm that there had been a road traffic collision resulting in the closure on the Manchester Airport line.

No services are running between St Werburgh's Road and Northern Moor.

Passengers can use tickets and passes on the 19 and 23 bus services.

Passengers in Manchester City Centre can board an East Didsbury Service as far as St Werburghs Road where they can then connect to bus links.

In a statement, a GMP spokesperson said: "We were called at 9.45am to a two-vehicle road traffic collision.

"There are no reports of any injuries or anyone trapped.

"The collision was between two hatchback vehicles.

"The road was blocked of as 10am and it was also blocking trams."
