Metrolink services disrupted after crash ends with car on tracks

A car landed on the tram tracks in Chorlton following a crash earlier this evening (Thursday).

Services have been suspended at the Barlow Moor Road tram stop following the two-vehicle collision on Mauldeth Road West.

A spokesman for GMP said: "We were called to a two vehicle RTC. Emergency services are at the scene.

"The crash happened on the road, one (car) landed onto the tram track."

The spokesman did not have details about any injuries or arrests.

Manc Traffic tweeted about the incident, saying: "Mauldeth Rd West at Nell Lane, Chorlton partially blocked after a two car crash.

"One car is on the tram tracks."

Transport for Greater Manchester published details about a change to services on their website.

The post said: "Due to a third party road traffic accident blocking the tracks at Barlow Moor Road a service change is in place.

"Service will operate Sale Water Park to Manchester Airport, Victoria to East Didsbury."

Customers can also use tickets on the 11,19,23,43,101,102 and 103 buses.
