Metrolink line blocked as car abandoned on tram tracks in Wythenshawe... again

The Manchester Airport line has been blocked in both directions after a car drove on to the tracks.

Police were called to Northern Moor tram stop in Wythenshawe on Friday evening to reports that a vehicle had been abandoned on the tracks.

Trams travelling on the line have come to a standstill while emergency services try to remove the car.

There are currently no services travelling between Martinscroft and Sale Water Park as a result of the blockage.

GMP Traffic tweeted: "We are currently dealing with a vehicle abandoned on the Metrolink tracks affecting trams to and from Manchester Airport, we are working to get you moving again.

Metrolink said: "Due to a car on the track at Northern Moor, there are no services operating between Martinscroft and Sale Water Park.

"Tickets, passes and contactless can be used on buses: 11, 11a, 19, 23, 41, 43, 101, 102 & 103.

"We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
