The National Transport Authority (NTA) are expected to scrap plans for a connection between the Metrolink and the Luas Green Line.
The new service was initially planned to run from Swords to Sandyford, however, reports have since revealed that it will now terminate at Charlemont Street.
The final route is likely to be announced today by the NTA and Transport Infrastructure Ireland, Dublin Live reports.
Concerns had been raised that the the Green Line would be disrupted for up to four years by the building works.

Dublin 'could have six-line metro system in place by 2025 entirely funded by private investment'
It is believed the NTA has come under pressure from senior politicians, including Taoiseach Leo Varadkar and Housing Minister Eoghan Murphy, to alter the plans.
The plans that will be announced today will see the College Gate apartment block and Markievicz leisure centre demolished to make way for the Metrolink.
Earlier this month, a petition was launched calling on the Government to prioritise an underground Metro service over BusConnects.
The online petition argues that a Metro system would "future-proof" public transport in the city.
The Metrolink is expected to open in 2027.
