Metrolink commuters facing disruption this morning

Commuters in Salford are facing disruption this morning after a points failure on the Metrolink.

Tram bosses have advised passengers that the Eccles via MediaCityUK line is part-suspended.

That means services will only run between Deansgate-Castlefield and MediaCityUK.

The failure means Metrolink passengers are unable to hop on a tram at the Eccles, Ladywell, Weaste, Langworthy, and Broadway stations.

Instead, they can use bus services.

“Due to a points fault, the Eccles via MediaCityUK line is currently part suspended,” a tweet from Metrolink, posted at 7:10am on Thursday (December 16) morning, said. “Services will run between Deansgate-Castlefield and MediaCityUK.

“There are no services between MediaCityUK and Eccles.

“Tickets and passes are being accepted on the 33 & 50 bus service.”

Trams heading eastwards from Manchester on the blue line, to Ashton-under-Lyne, are unaffected.
