Metrolink bosses issue warning after another car driven onto the tram tracks this morning

Metrolink bosses have issued a warning for drivers to stay attentive after a car was driven onto the tram tracks in Wythenshawe.

Pictures from the scene showed the vehicle blocking the entrance to the Crossacres platform on Friday morning.

A tram was pictured behind the car.

A spokesman for Transport for Greater Manchester said the car drove onto the tracks at around 6.30am.

Services were temporarily suspended between Crossacres and Wythenshawe town centre.

The driver managed to remove the car from the tracks and services resumed by 6.40am.

The TfGM spokesman said: "This incident demonstrates the importance of remaining vigilant and attentive when driving close to the Metrolink network – particularly in those areas where our trams leave the highway."
