MetLife Stadium goes blue to honor frontline workers of COVID-19 pandemic

MetLife Stadium and other sports arenas, fields, colosseums and landmarks around the country universally lit up in blue on Thursday night to honor the frontline workers and organizations currently battling the COVID-19 pandemic.

The #LightItBlue campaign first started in the UK, but has rapidly spread across the globe, and rightfully so.

The coronavirus has infected more than 1.6 million people worldwide and taken the lives of more than 95,000.

New York and New Jersey have been particularly hard hit, with the number of coronavirus cases in New York exceeding all other countries with the exception of the United States, which has nearly 470,000 cases and and 17,000 deaths.

New York alone has just shy of 90,000 cases and 5,300 deaths, while New Jersey has felt the COVID-19 impact with over 51,000 cases and 1,700 deaths.

Like the New York Giants and New York Jets, we thank all the frontline workers and medical personnel who continue to wage war against an invisible enemy.
