- Heavy metal band Metallica donated £20,000 to the Cardiff Foodbank ahead of their sold-out show at the city’s Principality Stadium.
- The donation was made through their charitable foundation , All Within My Hands, following an appeal from the foodbank which stated its warehouse was “so empty”.
- Rachel Biggs, CEO of Cardiff Foodbank, confirmed the “incredible amount of money” will make a significant difference and help replenish their empty shelves.
- The charity, which supports 20,000 people annually, stated the donation will provide 9,000 meals and is their largest celebrity contribution to date.
- The foodbank noted that while demand remains high, food donations have dropped by 27 per cent, with running costs estimated at £700,000.
