'Metal crutch' attack, attempted murder suspects and Encrochat dealer

Man 'kicked and hit with metal crutch' in city centre attack

A man suffered head injuries after being attacked in Liverpool city centre last night.

Police confirmed they were called to the junction of Dale Street and Stanley Street after a man was assaulted by a group of men.

A Liverpool ECHO reporter attended the scene after the incident and spoke to local businesses.

A takeaway worker on Dale Street said: “I started for work and went to go to the shop about an hour ago (7.30pm) and saw police everywhere on the street. There was also an ambulance. It happened very quickly."

Attempted murder suspects named after petrol station shooting

Gun shot casings were found at the nearby Shell Garage on Borough Road (Liverpool ECHO)

Two men were charged with attempted murder after a shooting in Wirral.

The incident took place at 4.10pm on Tuesday, November 16, 2019, at a busy petrol station in Birkenhead.

Emergency services were called to the junction of Balls Road East and Borough Road after a man was shot in the shoulder and leg.

Officers believed that the passenger of a motorbike fired shots, before two motorbikes were ridden off towards Prenton Park.

Encrochat 'Loadedsun' dealer jailed after returning from Spain

Harrison Laite has been jailed after using mobile EncroChat encryption service (Merseyside Police)

A Liverpool man has been jailed for using Encrochat to supply cannabis on the streets on Merseyside.

Harrison Laite was caught by police investigating Operation Venetic - an international operation targeting criminals who used a mobile encryption service, known as Encrochat.

Detective Inspector Chris Lowe said: "I hope this latest conviction sends a strong message to perpetrators that there is nowhere to hide, and we are taking action and bring them to justice.

"And this latest conviction of Laite proves just that, where the evidence was so strong that he has changed his plea to guilty."
