Met release details of BMW linked to Brixton stabbing attack

Police investigating a stabbing in south London have appealed for witnesses to come forward - while sharing details of a car they believe may be linked to the attack.

A 33-year-old man was left fighting for his life after being stabbed during the incident on Acre Lane in Brixton, at around 2.10am on Saturday May 2.

The man was rushed to hospital, but has now returned to a stable condition.

Met detectives are appealing for people to come forward with dashcam or doorbell footage in an attempt to track down three suspects captured on CCTV.

They have also recovered a black BMW 330E estate, with the number plate FM21 UKW, which was driven to Acre Lane at around 2am before speeding off towards Clapham Park Road following the attack at 2.15am.

The stabbing happened on the same morning that four people were shot on Coldharbour Lane, killing a 25-year-old man.

Police were investigating whether the drive-by shooting was linked to the stabbing. The stabbing occurred around one hour after the shooting, and just 300 metres away.

The Standard have approached the Met to see if they are still investigating whether the two incidents were linked.

Detective Sergeant Daniel Beek, who is leading the investigation, said: “This brutal attack almost claimed the life of a young man. My team and I are determined to find those responsible and urge anyone with information to contact us.

“The incident took place in an incredibly busy area. There were cars on the road – which hopefully means relevant dashcam footage – and we believe residents may have doorbell cameras pointing towards the street.

“If you were in or live in Acre Lane, Clapham Park Road, or the surrounding areas of Kings Avenue, please do get in touch via 101, or share footage directly through our public portal. No piece of information is too small.”

Anyone with information can contact the Met on 101, quoting 907/2MAY. Alternatively, those who wish to share information anonymously can contact independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
