I reported a while back that Eden Charles would be joining Anthony Julius and Bob Purkiss as panelists on the inquiry instigated by Mayor Johnson last autumn into the career progress of ethnic and religious minority officer in the Met. He has since dropped out and been replaced by Margaret Blankson, a consultancy director specialising in youth and regeneration issues. The MPA has published biographies of her and her fellow panelists here. The inquiry starts taking evidence next Wednesday. Some sessions will be open, others closed. Its findings and Mayor Johnson's response to them will have great significance for policing in London. More on this soon.
