Met police respond to second incident at Borough Market with armed police

Armed police are responding to a second incident at Borough Market, following an incident on London bridge in which a van drove into a number of pedestrians.

The Met Police confirmed on Twitter that officers were responding to reports of stabbings in  Borough Market, where it said "shots have been fired".

Video footage appears to show people in a bar shouting and ducking under tables, as police urge them to “stay down”.

The Met have advised people in a Twitter post to either run or hide in a place of safety, urging people to “remain calm, but be alert and vigilant”.

One witness tweeted: "Just come out of Borough Bistro where attack happen - saw man wielding knife and people on the floor in blood. In total shock."

Armed police officers earlier responded to reports of a vehicle in collision with pedestrians on London Bridge, during which at least one person is said to have died.

Officers are also responding to an incident in the Vauxhall area.

Transport for London (TfL) confirmed that  London Bridge, Borough and Bank stations were  closed, urging: "P lease avoid the  London Bridge  area tonight."
