A serving Metropolitan Police officer accused of raping a woman at a 5-star London hotel has been released on bail in time for Christmas.
PC Adam Zaman, 28, allegedly attacked the woman at the luxury Andaz Hotel in Liverpool Street on October 24, at a time when he was off-duty.
The police officer, who is currently suspended from duty, has been held in custody since he was charged with rape in October.
At the Old Bailey on Thursday morning, Judge Mark Lucraft QC, the Recorder of London, agreed to release Zaman on bail with a string of conditions.
The officer, appearing in court via videolink from HMP Wormwood Scrubs, must abide by an 8pm to 7am electronically tagged curfew, give up his passport, and sleep each night at a designated address.
He has been banned from visiting the Andaz Hotel or the Goose pub in Romford - unless accompanied by a lawyer - and he must not contact witnesses in the case.
Under the conditions of his bail, Zaman also must not speak to any police colleagues below the rank of a Superintendent apart from a list of close friends who are serving officers.
He is expected to be set free from prison later today.
Zaman, from Romford, has already pleaded not guilty to an allegation that he raped a woman at the luxury hotel.
The judge adjourned the case until January 7, when prosecution and defence teams will try to agree when the trial can be heard.
He said the case may be moved from the Old Bailey if it can be tried quicker at a different courthouse.
