Met Police officer who leaked sensitive information to Algerian Embassy sacked

A Metropolitan Police officer has been dismissed for leaking sensitive information to staff at the Algerian Embassy without a valid reason.

PC Saadane Mansouri was found guilty at a gross misconduct hearing on Wednesday of using his phone to share police details, including protest information, with embassy personnel from March 2019 to December 2020.

In 2019, he accessed police records about a neighbour without being involved in the investigation.

These actions breached standards of confidentiality, orders, duties, responsibilities and integrity.

Mansouri has been suspended since March 2020.

Commander Katie Lilburn, head of the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards, said: “Everyone who works in our organisation knows that police systems must only be used when there is a legitimate reason for doing so and this officer’s behaviour was completely unacceptable.

“Honesty and integrity are at the heart of everything we do and we will identify and hold to account those who do not meet these values.”
