Met Police officer to appear in court accused of sharing rape CCTV images

A Met police officer is due to appear in court accused of sharing CCTV images relating to the alleged rape of a woman who is believed to have been killed by her attacker.

PC Adam Aspinall Da Encarnacao is appearing at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Monday (August 12) to face two charges of misconduct in public office.

Scotland Yard said on Friday the charges relate to “inappropriately possessing and sharing CCTV images concerning the alleged rape of one woman and the rape of another”.

One of the women is Natalie Patricia Shotter, 37, who was found dead in Southall Park on July 17, 2021.

Her death was initially treated as unexpected, but in December a man was arrested and charged with her rape and manslaughter.

Mohamed Iidow, 35, of no fixed address is due to stand trial at the Old Bailey on Monday, September 30.

The Met says both Natalie’s family, and the other woman, have been informed about the charges made against Aspinall Da Encarnacao.

He was arrested on September 12, 2022, and was immediately suspended from duty.

“The matter is being investigated by professional standards officers,” said a Met spokesperson on Friday.

“Misconduct matters will be dealt with at the conclusion of the criminal proceedings.

“We have informed Natalie’s family of the charge against PC Aspinall Da Encarnacao and our thoughts and sympathies remain with them for their loss and for the impact this news will have,”

“We have also informed the second woman.”
