The Metropolitan Police have dismissed a police officer after she was accused of using carer's leave to go on holiday.
PC Rae Layzell was alleged to have applied to take carer's leave under the pretence of taking a relative to a medical appointment after she had used up her annual leave entitlement on 28 August, 2016.
Instead, Ms Layzell, who was attached to the East Area Command Unit, took a pre-booked flight to a holiday destination.
Separately, she was accused of claiming a flight she was booked on for 8 October had been cancelled and delayed, when an investigation found there were no cancellations or delays from the airport that day and she had instead missed the flight.
The two-day hearing, which Ms Layzell did not attend, also heard she had failed to attend work on 9 and 10 October.
The chair of the hearing found one case of gross misconduct and one case of misconduct proven and concluded Ms Layzell had breached the Met's standards of professional behaviour.
She was dismissed without notice.
