Met Police officer is charged over ‘inappropriate relationship with vulnerable woman’

A serving Metropolitan Police officer has been charged over an alleged inappropriate relationship with a vulnerable woman.

PC Peter Woodfine, 48, of Leyton, will appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

Scotland Yard said Woodfine is accused of a series of incidents between June and September 2023 “while acting in his capacity as a police officer”.

A force spokesman added: “The alleged offence took place when he was on duty.”

According to court records, the safer neighbourhoods team officer allegedly engaged in the relationship when attending her home to resolve disputes the female was having with neighbours.

Woodfine, attached to the Met’s South Area Command Unit, was charged with one count of misconduct in public office on July 18.

The Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards have been informed.
