(Picture: PA Archive)A serving Metropolitan Police officer will stand trial over an allegation that he raped a woman at a hotel in central London.
PC Adam Zaman, 28, allegedly attacked the woman at the Andaz Hotel in Liverpool Street on October 24, at a time when he was off-duty.
The police officer, from Romford, who has been suspended, appeared at the Old Bailey via videolink from prison on Monday morning.
He pleaded not guilty to a single count of rape, and was remanded back into custody until his trial.
Judge Philip Katz QC told Zaman the case may be overseen by a High Court judge, and a trial date will be set at the next hearing on December 22.
Zaman was charged shortly after the alleged rape, and first appeared in court on October 27.
Referrals have been made to the Independent Office for Police Conduct and the Met’s Directorate of Professional Standards in the wake of his arrest.
Zaman, who has been with the Met since 2016, spoke only to confirm his identity and enter a not guilty plea to the charge of rape.
