A Metropolitan Police officer has denied a charge of possessing an extreme pornographic image.

Pc Liam Boshein, of Waterworks Road, Portsmouth, Hampshire, appeared at Portsmouth Magistrates' Court on Wednesday where he entered a not guilty plea to the offence dated between November 7 2019 and April 4 2021.

The hearing was adjourned for the case to be heard at Portsmouth Crown Court on January 3 2023.

A Met Police spokesman confirmed that the officer has been suspended from his post with the South Area Command Unit, which covers Bromley, Croydon and Sutton.

He added the force's directorate of professional standards was aware of the case.
