A Metropolitan Police officer has appeared in court charged with a spate of sexual offences, including four counts of rape.

PC Robert Wing, 57, of Waltham Forest, is also charged with two counts of sexual assault by penetration and one count of sexual assault.

The charges relate to alleged incidents that took place between 2011 and 2016, according to the charge sheet.

He appeared briefly at Westminster Magistrates' Court on Wednesday to confirm his name, age and address, but did not enter any pleas.

Wing was arrested on March 1 2023 on suspicion of rape and was immediately suspended from the Met.

The Met's Directorate of Professional Standards was informed, Scotland Yard said.

The officer, who is attached to the specialist operations unit, was granted bail to appear at Snaresbrook Crown Court on September 24.
