Met Police officer accused of shutting down investigations and falsifying records denies misconduct charges

A Metropolitan Police officer has denied misconduct in public office over claims he prematurely shut down criminal investigations and falsified official statements.

PC Anil Celebi, 26, faces seven misconduct allegations following an investigation by the Independent Office for Police Conduct (IOPC).

It is said he “failed to properly investigate and progress” criminal cases, then “made false statements” on official police documents within the Crime Report Investigation System (CRIS).

Celebi appeared in the dock at Southwark crown court on Tuesday to deny all the charges.

The allegations relate to a year-long period from May 2019 to May 2020.

Judge Tony Baumgartner adjourned the case until a three-week trial which has been set for March 3, 2025.

Celebi, who lives in Ashford in Kent, was released on bail until his trial.
