Met Police hunt for man who escaped from court after being sent to jail

Police in London are hunting for a man who escaped from court after being sentenced for dangerous driving.

The Met Police said Nathan Oloyowang, 22, broke through a Perspex screen and jumped out of the dock at Wood Green Crown Court after hearing that he would be sent to jail for 10 months.

The offender, who is from Camden, north London, has been on the run for more than two weeks after he managed to evade security at his hearing on the afternoon of June 4.

A member of security staff at the court sustained slight injuries to his hand during the incident, police said.

Oloyowang is described as black, 6ft 1in tall, with a heavy build and short dark hair.

He was clean-shaven when he was last seen.

Police have advised the public not to approach him if they see him, but to call 999 immediately.

Oloyowang was on bail before the sentencing hearing and it is understood that he was not considered a flight risk.

A spokesman for Serco, which provides security at Wood Green Crown Court, added: “Following sentencing, a prisoner escaped from the insecure dock at Wood Green Court on Friday June 4, scaling the dock and breaking the glass in the process.”

Anyone with information can call police on 101 quoting the reference 5033/04JUN, or to remain anonymous contact Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 or online.
