Met Police arrests 100 people in huge operation ahead of Notting Hill Carnival

  • Commander Charmain Brenyah stated the policing plan prioritises tackling serious violence, aiming to deter criminality among the expected one million attendees.
  • Live Facial Recognition technology will be deployed, despite concerns from the Equality and Human Rights Commission regarding its potential impact on individuals' rights.
  • Additional security measures include screening arches and stop-and-search powers at entry points, with intelligence shared nationally to identify and ban violent gangs, following two murders at last year's event.
