Met Police appeal after woman sexually assaulted on Stratford High Street by man on bike

A woman in her 20s was sexually assaulted in Stratford, east London, when a man on a bike tried to grab her.

The man, who was not known to the victim, touched her inappropriately on High Street at around 5.30am on October 18.

“As the victim tried to push him away, the suspect pulled her towards him and grabbed her again,” a Metropolitan Police statement said.

“She managed to get away before the suspect cycled off in the direction of Romford Road.”

The victim was not injured but was left “extremely distressed” as a result of the incident and she continues to be supported by specialist officers.

The Met has now released a video as they attempt to find the man who grabbed the woman. He is seen cycling in Startford wearing a distinctive yellow jacket.

Investigating officer Sam Drury said: “Nobody should ever have to experience this type of behaviour when walking along the streets of London.

“We continue to investigate and have been working on a number of enquiries in order to find the man responsible.

“We are now releasing CCTV footage of a man we would like to speak with and are appealing for help from members of the public to identify him.

“We recognise this footage is not completely clear, however we are hoping his distinctive yellow hoodie may help to jog someone’s memory, should they have seen him on that day, or any other.”

Anyone who recognises this man or has any information should call Met Police on 101 or via Twitter @MetCC quoting CAD 2532/18OCT23. To remain anonymous contact the independent charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
