Met Police officer sacked after admitting child sex abuse offences

A Metropolitan Police officer who patrolled school gates in north London has been sacked from the force after it was discovered he had a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl.

PC Hussain Chehab, 22, pleaded guilty at Wood Green Crown Court to four counts of sexual activity with a teenage girl in 2019, before he joined the force.

He also pleaded guilty to three counts of making indecent photographs of a child and one count of sexual communications with a child.

Some of the image offences were committed while Chehab was a ‘safer schools’ officer at an Enfield secondary. Police said his “sickening” offending was not linked to his role.

A misconduct hearing, which was uncontested by PC Chehab, heard that phone records revealed he had a sexual relationship with a 14-year-old girl - Miss A- when he was 18.

Assistant Commissioner Barbara Gray finding him guilty of gross misconduct, ahead of his sentencing this week, said in her report: “Although the offending in relation to Miss A took place prior to PC Chehab becoming a police officer, his appalling exploitation of a vulnerable young girl for his own sexual gratification is thoroughly despicable and completely against our policing values.

“By committing very serious sexually motivated offences which involve a vulnerable child, and being convicted of the relevant offences, as well of being convicted of making indecent images of children, PC Chehab has very clearly undermined trust in the police service and brought it into disrepute.”

She added: “PC Chehab had options at every stage to cease his behaviour, but did not.

“He had sought out the indecent images and had continued to possess and share them, knowing it was wrong to do so. He acted deliberately and was wholly responsible for what he did and his culpability is therefore high.”

She said he had nothing in his Met record of service since joining in 2020 to effect her decision.

He was dismissed without notice.

PC Chehab’s offences came to light in July 2021 when the family of a sixteen-year-old girl called police over fears he had been in a relationship with her, which began when she was just fifteen.

He was arrested in August 2021 and placed on restricted duties, barring him from contact with the public or children.

Chehab was released on bail for sentencing on Friday, March 17.
