Met officer charged with assault and perverting the course of justice

A serving Met police officer has been charged with assault and perverting the course of justice.

PC Bilal Naveed was arrested on Friday in connection with an assault while he was off duty on Saturday, April 1.

He has been remanded in custody to appear at Uxbridge Magistrates’ Court on Monday, April 24.

The Directorate of Professional Standards and the IOPC have been made aware.

PC Naveed is currently suspended. He was attached to the North East BCU, which covers the areas of Waltham Forest and Newham.
