Met Office yellow weather warning misses Liverpool but torrential rain on way

A yellow weather warning will miss Liverpool according to forecasters but bad weather is still set to batter the city.

The Met Office has put out a warning for torrential downpours in South West, South East and East England, the West Midlands, London and Wales from 5pm on Monday.

The yellow alert is also extended to Tuesday for the East Midlands from 2am Tuesday to midnight the same day.

Forecasters said: "A few homes and businesses flooded. Bus and train services affected with journey times taking longer.

"Spray and flooding on roads will make journey times longer."

However, despite Liverpool and the rest of Merseyside being missed off the weather warning, the region can still expect to see bad weather.

The Met Office states that today will be a 'breezy day' with a mixture of sunshine and scattered showers, with maximum temperatures of 15C.

Tonight will see the rain getting heavier and it will also 'turn windy' in the early hours.

On Tuesday, it is predicted to be 'cloudy changing to heavy rain by the morning', with the maximum temperature will be 14C.

The Met Office predicted for the North West: "Monday will be a breezy day with a mixture of sunshine and scattered showers.

"The showers will be most frequent across Cumbria and North Lancashire and will be heavy in places with a risk of hail and thunder. Maximum temperature 15 °C.

"Tonight: Scattered showers at first this evening before heavy rain spreads from the south with all parts seeing some heavy bursts of ran in the early hours.

"Turning windy by morning. Minimum temperature 6 °C.

"Tuesday: Wet and windy through Tuesday, with a risk of coastal gales for a time.

"Turning drier and brighter from the west late in the day, with the wind slowly easing.

"Maximum temperature 14 °C.

"Outlook for Wednesday to Friday: Dry and bright on Wednesday with some afternoon sunshine.

"Turning cloudier and breezy on Thursday and Friday with a risk of some patchy rain in the north."
