Glasgow weather: Snow set to hit city today as Met Office issue weather warning

We might be firmly into spring but the weather seems to have forgotten.

A yellow warning for snow has been put in place across Glasgow, North and South Lanarkshire, Renfrewshire, and Inverclyde.

The Met Office has warned that snow could cause disruption to travel this morning.

The warning is in place between 3.35am and 11am today.

The weather was expected to reach the Central Belt at dawn, turning showery by mid to late morning. Snow accumulations of up to 3m on lower roads and 6cm over higher roads is possible, according to the Met Office.

The warning comes after a not-so-great start to May. The bank holiday weekend delivered more or less non-stop rain and chilly temperatures which are set to continue into the weekend.

Sunny intervals tomorrow morning will be short-lived with cloud settling in for the weekend around 1pm. Saturday is set to be cloudy with some light rain - rain that looks to be continuing through until Wednesday.

We're sure the weather won't deter Glaswegians from getting out to the beer gardens but waterproofs are a must!
