Met Office yellow weather alert for thunder, lightning and hail in parts of Wales

Heavy showers and thunderstorms have been forecast for certain parts of Wales, with the Met Office warning there could be disruption to travel and power in a few places.

The weather front looks set to hit certain areas of North Wales from midday and could continue until seven o'clock this evening (Saturday June 13).

The forecasters have also warned of potential damage to buildings and structures, with hail and lightning strikes possible.

In addition, there is a good chance driving conditions will be affected by spray and standing water, all of which could lead to longer journey times and delays to scheduled transport.

Some short term loss of power and other services is also likely, while a small chance of  flooding for some homes and businesses hasn't been ruled out.

Bad weather is also possible in other parts of Wales through this afternoon and this evening, with heavy downpours at times, according to the Met Office.

The forecast for Sunday is: "A rather cloudy day with dry and sunny spells inbetween any showers. The showers will become more frequent into the afternoon giving heavy downpours and a risk of thunder. Maximum temperature 21 °C."
