Met Office weather warning issued as North East to be hit by 65mph winds

Another windy weekend is on the cards with a weather warning in place this Friday.

Following Storm Ciara and Storm Dennis over the last two weekends, there has been little let-up in the windy weather over the last few weeks.

Now another weather warning has been put in place covering the North East on Friday between 8am and 8pm.

The Met Office has warned that this could cause disruption to public transport and some roads could be closed to high-sided vehicles.

Strong and gusty west to southwesterly winds are expected across the North East during Friday with gusts of 55-65mph in places.

During the windy weather, it is expected to stay mostly dry although there is a chance of some light rain on Saturday evening.

Winds are expected to stay blustery into Saturday, with some showers also expected throughout the day.

The weather is predicted to become calmer by Sunday with some spells of sunshine in the afternoon.
