Met Office weather warning in place for eleven hours across South West

The Met Office has issued an eleven-hour weather warning for rain in the south West.

Heavy rain is expected to bring disruption across the region from 5pm today (Monday, October 4) until 4am tomorrow (Tuesday, October 5).

The yellow weather warning covers all of Bristol, Gloucestershire, Somerset, Wiltshire, Devon, Cornwall and parts of Dorset and Wales.

The latest weather warning states "heavy rain is likely to produce some disruption this evening and overnight."

Public transport could be affected and flooding on key routes across the region is also a risk.

The Met Office has issued a forecast for the South West of England for the next 24 hours, with heavy rain at the forefront of it..

Regional weather forecast

Today: Sunny spells and scattered locally heavy showers through much of Monday, blown through on a brisk wind.

However, it will turn cloudy across Cornwall late in the afternoon, with outbreaks of heavy rain arriving by early evening. Maximum temperature 16 °C.

Tonight: Heavy rain will spread east this evening, but will be quickly followed by more showery conditions, with heavy showers continuing after midnight.

Becoming very windy with coastal gales developing. Minimum temperature 8 °C.

Tuesday: Windy with frequent locally heavy showers in the morning accompanied by strong to gale force winds.

Some sunnier interludes developing in the afternoon, with the wind beginning to ease. Maximum temperature 14 °C.
